Supporting the co-creation of authentic relating and lucid life experiences
Hi, I'm Sarah Mathews
I'm a cis-gender female (she/her), highly sensitive, omnisexual, lover of nature/animals, creative, healer, progressive thinking person who is passionate about the health of our world and the wellbeing of humanity. I have been in the helping and healing professions since 2001 and continue to be fascinated by the human experience.
A Snippet of My Story
I have always had an unexplainable pull to be a helper. I was an extremely emotionally intuitive and sensitive child who had a sixth sense about the feelings, intentions, and struggles of the people around me. Although shy, I was creative; a dancer and a singer and a general make-believer. I got crushes on people easily and felt feelings deeply. As a teen I grew up in a small town and often felt and out of place which lead me to being an over achiever and getting my hands on anything I could explore. Flashing forward, I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a self created Bachelor of Individualized Studies degree (I chose classes and wrote up a proposal for approval) in Psychology, Communications, and Relationship Studies and earned the Thomas Burnett Leadership award my senior year for displaying qualities of a heart centered leader.
From there I chose a graduate school that aligned with my intuitive nature and desire for cultural diversity and moved to San Francisco/Bay Area, California to attend graduate school at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. I worked in various community mental health settings and dug deep into mindfulness. I moved back to Minnesota and worked in behavioral health insurance and was also part of a committee that trained employees and executives on mindfulness in the workplace. I eventually broke out of the corporate world and started my own mental health therapy practice which is where I have been since 2017 while collecting various trainings and connections along the way. I now specialize in relationships, sexuality, and high sensitivity through a mindfulness, attachment/emotionally focused, somatic, and transpersonal lens.
Like many of us, I am someone who needs to intentionally and actively practice the concept of being. I am endlessly curious, still feel deeply, processes things thoroughly, and get crushes easily. I see life as giving us the opportunity for continuous creation, discovery, and growth and to connect with and relate to others and the world around us is one of the greatest teachers and sources of meaning there is! I have not lived a life that is commonly traveled and have generally opted to turn off the beaten path to create my own which has proven to be surprising, hard, and exhilarating!

In my personal life, you may find me at an alternative healing, yoga, or dance class, baking up some goodies for a gathering with partners, friends, and family, hanging out with my two sweet and clever cats (Finn an Willow), spending unstructured time frolicking in nature, or taking an afternoon to let my creativity fly!
